The Gurdwara has issued a stern condemnation of the incident involving Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Vikram Doraiswami, who was barred from attending a planned interaction at the religious site on Saturday.

Describing the incident as “disorderly behavior,” the Scotland Gurdwara asserted that it is open to individuals from all communities and backgrounds, as reported by ANI.

In an official statement, the Guru Granth Sahib Sikh Sabha recounted, “An incident occurred on September 29, 2023, at the  Gurdwara where the Indian High Commissioner was on a personal visit, facilitated by a member of the Scottish Parliament.”

“Unidentified individuals from outside the Glasgow area attempted to disrupt this visit, prompting the visiting party to vacate the premises,” the statement continued.

Furthermore, the statement mentioned that the “unruly individuals” persisted in disrupting the congregation, and the Scotland Police has taken note of the matter, according to ANI reports.

The statement from the Glasgow Gurdwara forcefully condemns such disorderly conduct, which aimed to disrupt the tranquil proceedings of a Sikh place of worship. Emphasizing its commitment to principles of faith, the Gurdwara reiterated that it is open to individuals from all communities and backgrounds, extending a warm welcome to everyone.

Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami was impeded from entering the  Gurdwara on Albert Drive in Scotland by an alleged pro-Khalistani activist.

In a video reportedly posted on the Instagram channel of ‘Sikh Youth UK,’ an individual, purportedly a pro-Khalistani activist, obstructed Doraiswami’s entry into the Glasgow Gurdwara situated on Albert Drive.

As per the video, there exists a standing ban on Indian officials visiting their Gurdwara in an official capacity. Consequently, a Sikh young man could be seen confronting Doraiswami and escorting him away from the Gurdwara premises.

This incident unfolded amidst a diplomatic dispute between India and Canada concerning the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Following this incident, the Indian government has raised the matter with the United Kingdom foreign office and the police.
