Enhancing the Glyph lights, the Phone 2 introduces additional LEDs that allow for greater customization. Users can now enjoy features such as countdown timers and a volume indicator. These lights can even display the time remaining until your Uber driver arrives. Collaborating with Swedish House Mafia, Nothing has developed a Glyph composer app that enables users to create personalized light and sound remixes specifically assigned to individual contacts.

Retaining the flat aluminum frame and front glass from its predecessor, the Phone 2 extends them to accommodate a larger 6.7-inch OLED display with slimmer bezels. This impressive display boasts a resolution exceeding 1080p, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and a remarkable peak brightness of 1600 nits. With the under-display fingerprint sensor, the always-on display mode now supports widgets without the need to unlock the phone.

NothingOS 2.0 brings noteworthy software enhancements to complement the hardware upgrades. The custom Android UI by Nothing receives custom icons and a refreshed homescreen that allows users to personalize their experience with quick settings and oversized folders, all tailored to their preferred color scheme. Phone 1 owners can expect to receive the NothingOS 2.0 update in August, enhancing the functionality and user interface of their devices.

Internally, the Phone 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU, combined with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Although the chipset may belong to the previous generation, it still delivers exceptional performance for seamless daily usage and handles demanding games with ease. The device is fueled by a larger 4700mAh battery, providing ample power to last throughout the day. Wired charging supports speeds of up to 45W, and Nothing includes a stylish semi-transparent USB-C cable in the package. Wireless charging is also supported, along with the convenient ability to reverse charge other devices, such as the Ear 2 wireless earphones.

The camera setup on the Phone 2 remains similar on paper, featuring two 50MP rear cameras. However, Nothing has upgraded the main sensor to a Sony IMX890 and enhanced the HDR processing capabilities to capture multiple additional frames per shot, resulting in more impressive and lifelike photos. Leveraging the ultrawide camera’s autofocus, the Phone 2 introduces a macro mode for stunning close-up shots. It also supports 4K HDR video recording at 30fps (or 60fps in SDR). Positioned in the center with a punch-hole design, the 32MP selfie camera adds to the immersive viewing experience.

The Phone 2 will first be available for purchase from Nothing’s London store and a pop-up kiosk in New York, starting from July 13th. Global sales will commence on July 17th, allowing customers worldwide to experience the innovative features and design of the Phone 2.
